How do you defeat an enemy that will blow himself up for his own cause?
How can you defeat a suicidal enemy? Also, how do you defeat an enemy who believes that if he dies on the battlefield, he becomes a martyr for his cause and instantly goes to heaven? In other words, if they don't die on the battlefield during jihad, they are deeply disappointed. The U.S. and coalition forces are facing this problem in Afghanistan right now. But this isn't new. The U.S. faced a similar type of enemy in World War II against Japan. They would rather go down fighting to their bitter end and die rather than surrender. The only way to defeat this type of enemy in World War II was to drop the atomic bomb. Is that what it will take this time?
