Can someone please help me come up with a thesis statement?

I have to write an essay about the short story sucker by carson mccullers. I am having a hard time with the thesis but I know the theme and i just don't know how to put it into words. The theme in the story is: one can't feel the martyr for your admiration of the person who doesn't notice you because of the guilt you harbor for despising the one who does admire you. how do i make this into a thesis statement??
